Mt Mangaweka Heli Park – Heli Skiing and Snowboarding in the many ranges of the Ruahine State Forest Park, North Island, New Zealand. This heli skiing is a unique experience and one of a kind in the North Island of New Zealand not far from Mt Ruapehu and Ohakune.

Mt Mangaweka Heli Park holds a Department of Conservation concession that allows operations between multiple ranges within the Ruahine State Forest Park. This is a very unique environment that offers a range of terrain for heli skiing options when the conditions are right. We expect to operate between 10 and 15 days in the up coming 2014 season.

For your opportunity to experience un-paralleled North Island heli skiing you need to register your interest with us. We will keep in contact regarding conditions. We will let our followers know when we will be flying. At that point we operate on a first in first served basis.

Location. The Ruahine State Forest Park is over 94,000 hectares of varied terrain. Mt Mangaweka Heli Park operates from Te-One Farm; 20km from SH1 and the Department of Conservation concession allows access to approximately 25000 hectares of terrain including the Hikurangi, Whanahuia, Ruahine and Mokai Patea Ranges.

The Skiing. Backcountry snow covered tussock peaks and gullies makes up the skiing available for
Mt Mangaweka visitors. We estimate approximately 10 to 15 ski days this upcoming winter. You will be accompanied by at least two guides at any given time. Our experienced guides are trained with required Safety Management qualifications Avalanche Stages One and Two through the Mountain Safety Council.

Hosts. Mt Mangaweka Heli Park is locally owned and operated by Bruce and Kelly Dalzell. They are available to assist with registering your interest to the keep updated with the snow conditions and possible flight days and to help with any other questions you may have regarding Heli skiing with Mt Mangaweka Heli Park.

Helicopters. We fly with local, experienced pilot Simon Werthmuller from Rangitikei Helicopters Ltd in a McDonnell Douglas 520 Notar. Simon is a highly reputable pilot with vast flying experience and knowledge of the Ruahine State Forest Park.
